Reviving Your Old Shutters with a Fresh Coat of Paint

if we decided to keep the shutters, we knew we had to paint them. We’ve been pricing paint sprayers for awhile, so it was time to finally take the plunge. We purchased this Wagner sprayer from Home Depot, as it came highly recommended from our paint guys at HD (yes, we’re friends with them by now). We set up a paint camp on our back deck and my bada$* hubs took on the role of painter.

They are more courageous than I would be. The painted shutters look great. Looks like they need to replace some of the staples that connect the shutter louvers to the tilt rods, but after having tackled the painting project, that’s no big deal at all!

Shutters in the Bathroom

Finally, we have Plantation Shutters in our bathrooms.

These shutters are very nice looking. I wonder if they are wood or vinyl? Wood shutters don’t stand up to high humidity very well. With the high end vinyl shutters humidity is not a problem and you really can’t tell them apart without touching them. Vinyl is heavier and requires good quality hardware to keep the panels from sagging under their own weight.
